This will help mitigate any potential damage that your ex can do when it comes to these accounts. There are programs that can help you create and organize new passwords, such a “strong random password generator,” “KeePass,” and “LastPass.”

Data: Saving It, Getting Rid of It

You will also need to wipe sensitive data off of shared devices; however, before you wipe everything clean, make sure that any data that you need is backed up. This not only applies to shared gadgets, such as the family iPad, but also computers, phones that are on family plans, and other electronic devices that are capable of not only storing banking and tax information, but also instant messages or anything else that could be private. Also keep in mind that, during this process, deleting data is not always good enough when it comes to making it completely disappear.

Apps That Help With Child Custody Issues

There is also a new app available to help you with your issue of child custody. The app, called “CoParenter,” helps collects data, including communication between you and your partner, location information, and anything else that could possibly be important when it comes to child communications and custody information necessary for court.

Social Media Accounts

These days, it is also no surprise that social media can be devastating to individuals going through divorce. This is especially the case when it comes to accounts like Twitter and Facebook. Make sure that you close these accounts, and if you want to continue using them, create new, very private accounts; possibly even a listing help of someone who is good at technology in your life to make sure the account is set up as privately as possible in terms of the settings and who can access any information and posts associated with it. Still, make sure that anything that you post is still “squeaky clean” in order to ensure that you are protected.
